Welcome to 2026 - A note from Asé Theatre's Co-Artistic Director, Aishé Keita

I am so excited for ASE Theatre 2026!! I have been the Co–Artistic Director of ASE Theatre for the past three years, and this work has been some of the most grounding and inspirational work I have ever done.

Through the Dispersed 2023 production, I learned the power of womxn coming together in ritual—how ritual births creation and deeply roots us in the truth of our stories, our spirit, and one another. Then, with Dispersed 2025, we truly put in the WORK in reimagining this show. This production profoundly transformed our community, with people showing up night after night as living testimony to its impact. We thank you all so much!

In 2025, one of my greatest joys and lessons was spending a week studying Ritual Poetic Drama with Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates herself. This experience gave me a deeper, embodied understanding of what Ritual Poetic Drama truly is. I cannot thank ASE Theatre enough for this opportunity, and I am thrilled to bring these teachings into the 2026 ASE Theatre programming.

With our focus on solo work and solo shows this year, it is our mission to continue connecting with our community through truth, transformation, and tenacity.
